St. James School was a Catholic elementary school located at 37 St. James Place in New York City across James Street from St. James' Church (New York City). It is located in Lower Manhattan, in close proximity to Chinatown, One Police Plaza, the Brooklyn Bridge and City Hall. On February 2, 2010, the Archdiocese of New York announced that St. James School would be merged with nearby St Joseph School Chinatown, and the combined St. James - St. Joseph School would be located in the current Saint Joseph School building at 1 Monroe Street beginning September 2010. In addition, Chinatown's Transfiguration School, which had grown too large for its current school building on Mott Street, would use Saint James School as its north campus beginning in September 2010. ==Notable alumni==
